Meet a 2024-25 Student Delegate: Andrew Hammond of Creekview High School!

Every school year, each CCSD high school selects one Student Delegate to the School Board to represent the student voice. One Delegate is named the Student Advisor and sits with the Board at its meetings. We’ll continue to introduce you to them all this year! #CCSDElevateTheExcellence

Why did you want to serve as a student delegate to the School Board?

I wanted to become a student delegate to participate in leadership decisions directly impacting student lives. Student board representatives can meaningfully participate in the governance process of our district, learn essential democratic skills, and represent and advocate for our peers. I believe youth leaders are important in building a positive school climate by discussing student concerns and providing student perspective on education policy decisions.

What are you learning from the experience?

Throughout my experience, I have learned about the work ethic and the procedures that go on behind the scenes. I wanted to understand how major decisions affecting our education are made, gain insight into the county's vision for student learning, and potentially participate in discussions about policies that can have a direct impact on our school experience.

What do you feel makes a good leader?

A good leader is someone who is accountable, honest, and driven. The aptitude to set clear goals and articulate them. Recognizing the talent and passion around them, and the ability to bring out the best in each person.

What do you like most about your school?

The incredible students, parents, partners, and staff who bring it to life each day. Creekview has created an environment that supports and encourages each other no matter the circumstance. This community truly cares about its students, and that enthusiasm is reflected throughout our hallways and classrooms every day.
