Holly Springs Optimist Club Presents Annual High School Awards
The Holly Springs Optimist Club recently honored eight CCSD students, along with an outstanding teacher and a paraprofessional at its annual High School Awards breakfast, which recognizes outstanding special needs students and their supportive teachers and staff. The 2022 honorees are:
Cherokee HS: Brody Wright for Positive Attitude, presented by Alexis Halkyard
Creekview HS: Spencer Herrin for Kindness Crusader, presented by Sherry Wallace
Etowah HS: Lorelei Lyu for Positive Attitude, presented by Amy Blanton
L.R. Tippens Center: Taven Fox for Most Improved, presented by Jordan Hofmeister
River Ridge HS: Christopher Yancy for Positive Attitude, presented by Derek Woodburn
Sequoyah HS: Nicholas DeLuca for Outstanding Achievement, presented by Megan Harmon
Transition Academy: Michael McLoughlin for Outstanding Achievement, presented by Angela Ezell
Woodstock HS: Lucas Pachorek for Positive Attitude, presented by Dana Dreaper
The teacher award for Outstanding Achievement in Education went to Dana Leverette from Cherokee HS, presented by Assistant Principal Dr. Judy Wright; and the Paraprofessional of the Year award went to Kathy Murphy from Creekview HS, presented by Assistant Principal Nancy Henson.
Students received trophies and gift bags, had photos made with their family members. The staff awards included plaques and gift bags. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Hightower and School Board Member Kelly Poole attended the event, along with senior staff from the Curriculum & Instruction division and its Special Education department. Members of the Optimist Club closed out the program reciting the Optimist Creed.
