CCSD Students Earn Honors in 6th District Congressional Art Competition
Cherokee County School District students earned honors in the annual Congressional Art Competition for the 6th District!
The national competition sponsored by the Congressional Institute recognizes exemplary artwork created by high school students. Students submit entries to the congressional district that represents their school’s area, and panels of district artists select the winning entries.
Four Creekview High School students were among the 6th District winners: Class of 2023 graduates Gabby Palzewicz and Connor Vitak, rising senior CharliAnne Clemons and rising junior Alyssa Leach. CharliAnne’s work, “Red Hawk,” additionally earned Honorable Mention. Their art teacher is Leslie Babcock. They recently were honored by 6th District Congressman Rich McCormick.
“Congratulations to each of these outstanding artists on their award-winning artwork!” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “We’re very proud of this success earned through their dedication and creativity. Thank you to Ms. Babcock for the excellent instruction and guidance she gives to her art classes each day.”
