CCSD Students Earn 2023-24 AP Scholars Honors

CCSD Students Earn 2023-24 AP Scholars Honors

More than 900 Cherokee County School District students have earned national AP Scholar awards!

The AP Program each fall recognizes an elite group of high school students from across the country who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP exams.

Three levels of AP Scholar awards are presented based on the number of the rigorous college-credit course exams students pass and the high level of their scores.  Students who achieve a 3 or higher (on a scale of 1 to 5) on an AP exam can qualify for college credit at most state colleges and universities, thereby avoiding college tuition payments for those classes.  CCSD students through AP course credit earn nearly $4 million a year in Georgia in-state college tuition, assuming each exam equals just one college course.  CCSD high schools offer more than 30 different AP courses.

The three levels of AP Scholar awards are: AP Scholar with Distinction, average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams; AP Scholar with Honor, average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams; and AP Scholar, scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

The majority of students nationwide to achieve this recognition are seniors, but CCSD’s Scholars honorees for this year also include juniors and sophomores.

Congratulations to our 2023-24 honorees, whose names are listed online here.
