CCSD Senior Named 2025 Georgia Scholar

CCSD Senior Named 2025 Georgia Scholar

A Cherokee County School District high school senior has been selected for the prestigious Georgia Scholar recognition!

Creekview High School senior Ben Nguyen is one of only 145 seniors statewide to earn the Georgia Department of Education honor for the Class of 2025.

The program honors high school seniors who exhibit excellence in their school and community life.  Honorees demonstrate dedication to academic success, participation in interscholastic events and leadership through extra-curricular activities.  Each is recognized with a Georgia Scholar diploma seal and graduation cord.

Congratulations to Ben and his teachers and thank you to our School Board for its investment in our students’ success!

Ben, who will attend Georgia Tech to study chemical engineering, has interned with Universal Alloy Corporation in metallurgy research and development.  A College Board AP Scholar with Distinction and National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award recipient, he has earned an Academic Letter, Lamp of Knowledge, and Superintendent’s Key Scholar Award and was a Governor’s Honors Program semifinalist for mechanical and electrical engineering.

A four-year member of Creekview’s varsity tennis team, Ben now serves as captain and is a Scholar Athlete.  He also is a four-year member of the Technology Student Association, currently serves as president of Creekview’s chapter, and has earned honors in the association’s drone and robotics competitions.

As an active member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Aeronautics Team, and Key Club, Ben has served his school and community at large through volunteer activities including trash cleanups, toy drives, making blankets for the elderly, writing letters to military service members, and helping with school STEM nights.

“This prestigious recognition identifies students who go above and beyond in all aspects of life – both within the school walls and in the community,” State Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods said.  “I wish them great success in their futures and can’t wait to see the impact they make on our state, nation, and world.”

The Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis will recognize Ben at an upcoming school board meeting.
