CCSD Educators Participate in Annual Dyslexia Endorsement Program
Another group of Cherokee County School District educators has earned Georgia’s Dyslexia Endorsement!
The school district partnered with North Georgia Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) to provide the 2023-24 school year’s endorsement course, which was offered to CCSD Special Education middle and high school teachers. The program was led by Dr. Jennifer Reynolds, a learning support specialist in CCSD’s Special Education department.
Congratulations to our 2023-24 program graduates: Cynthia Baxter, Stuart Brady, Laura Brown, Alicia Buckles, Robin Coggins, Sumere Dunaway, Angela Graves, Bridget Harkins, Kristin Johnson, Laurita Loizzo, Haleigh Miner, Diane Poje, April Popham, Cristen Roberts, Krista Shirilla, Candie Suggs, Julie Tedder and Dara Yokley.
The endorsement was created in response to Senate Bill 48 to equip teachers with the knowledge of the characteristics of dyslexia and the ability to respond to students’ unique instructional needs. The 2022-23 group was made up of Special Education elementary school teachers. CCSD will offer the program again next school year for another group of Special Education teachers.
