CCSD Congratulates Career and Technical Competition Winners

Six Cherokee County School District students placed at Georgia’s Career and Technical Instruction Competition!

The competition offers students the opportunity to demonstrate skills from their chosen Career Pathway, with presentations judged by skilled professionals from that career field.

“Congratulations on your outstanding performance at the state competition – you represented your school and our school district with excellence,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “Career preparation is an important part of CCSD, with nearly 40 Career Pathways offered at our high schools and more being introduced next year.  Thank you to our career education teachers who work diligently to offer students training as part of their school day, as well as through extra-curricular opportunities like this competition.”

River Ridge HS sophomore Stephen Welch earned first place in the Most Improved Student category at the competition, where he demonstrated skills gained through the Junior ROTC program.  He serves as a sergeant with the program and has logged more than 200 volunteer hours over the past two years.

Cherokee HS junior Dennis Nailor and sophomore Trey Watts earned first place in Audio Video Production.

Cherokee HS junior Wyatt Howell placed second in Construction Technology.

Sequoyah HS junior Julia Rucker placed second in Technology Skills.

Creekview HS junior Cesar Garcia placed third in Catering.
