CCSD Class of 2022 Graduates Headed to U.S. Service Academies, Military Service

The six graduates accepted to U.S. Service Academies are: of Cherokee HS, Joel Stahl, U.S. Air Force Academy and Toby Thompson, U.S. Military Academy West Point; of Creekview HS, Ty Hubert, U.S. Air Force Academy and Tyler Stevens, U.S. Air Force Academy; of River Ridge HS, Brian Bradley, U.S. Air Force Academy; and of Sequoyah HS, Charlie Throne, U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Sixty members of Cherokee County School District’s Class of 2022 have committed to military service, including six selected for prestigious U.S. Service Academies!

“Thank you to each of these students for making the important decision to serve our country,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We’re proud of you and grateful to you and your families, and I know our entire community appreciates your service.”

The six graduates accepted to U.S. Service Academies are: of Cherokee HS, Joel Stahl, U.S. Air Force Academy and Toby Thompson, U.S. Military Academy West Point; of Creekview HS, Ty Hubert, U.S. Air Force Academy and Tyler Stevens, U.S. Air Force Academy; of River Ridge HS, Brian Bradley, U.S. Air Force Academy; and of Sequoyah HS, Charlie Throne, U.S. Coast Guard Academy.  Enrollment at the Academies is very limited, and appointees are selected based on outstanding academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and school and community service.

“Congratulations to our six graduates selected for U.S. Service Academies.  It is a significant achievement to earn these appointments, and takes hard work by our students and support from their teaches, coaches and families,” Dr. Hightower said.  “We wish you all the best as you pursue this path.”
